Hand crafted modern replica of ancient Alaia surfboards. Sustainable harvested Paulownia is used. This is a fast growing Chinese species now harvested in north NSW and Qld. It is extremely lightweight and buoyant but strong enough to not need fibreglassing.
Riding an Alaia is to experience frictionless surfing as the flat bottom and fins free give maximum speed. Definitely a challenge though, and at the end of the day, they go great on your lounge room wall!
Next Alaia making workshop will be Wednesday nights 6.30-9.30pm April 26, May 3, May 10. at Illawarra Woodwork School York Rd. Wonoona.
